Lăng (shrine with bones of the whales)

This kind of building appear only in fishing villages in Cam Thanh, Cam An, Tan Hiep, Cam Nam communes.
As it has been practised for centuries so far, when the fishermen find a whale dead, they will take is ashore then build a shrine to worship with all the rituals done for a funeral of a human being.

A Lăng is small in size, consisting of 2 parts: the vestibute and the rear house. Most of the Làngs in Hoi An were built in the 19th century and they have very beautiful decoration on their roofs.
