Each village in Hoi An has a communal house for the common use of the whole village. The main part of the communal house is a rectangular building (with two auxiliary wings on its left and right sides) dedicated to the God and important Founders of the village. This main building always has a four-side roof of yin-yang tile.
The communal house is usually located in the central area of the village, looking to the river or some water source.
Festivities of the village will be held at the communal house. Important things that can cause good or not good effect to the whole village will be discussed or solved here.
